Let’s face it, there’s a huge amount to hate about World of Warcraft. And Eve. And as much as I love me some Star Wars, The Old Republic is not quite as compelling as I’d like. In fact, if I’m honest, I’ve yet to find an MMO that pushes my buttons in exactly the right way….
Originals: Feed The Gamer
Whilst being fully aware that I’m sort of late to this party, I’m also conscious that we haven’t discussed Mass Effect much here on Feed The Gamer, and in particular, that none of our great writers have chimed in on the significant brouhaha over the ending. It’s taken me a while to get through it….
Having issues with “Gotham City Impostors”?
A lot of people are reporting massive framerate drops or generally low framerates.
If you are running Windows 64bit, this might be one of the issues as I noticed a significant framerate
boost after reinstalling 32bit.
Nevertheless, here is a simple trick that fixed it for me:
Go to steamapps/common/gotham city impostors/autoexec.cfg and then change
DisableMaterialsFromFile “1” to DisableMaterialsFromFile “0″….
Wargame claims to be the next big thing in Real Time Strategy.
In order for this to be true they would need to offer something different from any generic strategy game out on the market. Since the guys from Eugen Systems do have some RTS experience with games like Act of War and RUSE; (which, with its large maps and card system, was an innovative approach to the strategy genre), you’d assume that they’d know what they’re doing. …

Oilrush, oh Oilrush. I’d hoped for so much yet received so little. You promised to be a naval strategy game; something I haven’t played in years and was looking forward to. You were meant to be fresh and innovative, but it turns out you’re pretty unexceptional.
For those of you who are still interested, Oilrush is an RTS-game developed by a company called Unigine Corp who developed the Unigine engine; an engine that has produced amazing DX11 Benchmarks and runs equally well on all platforms….

NC Soft have opened their doors for players to sign up for the closed beta run of Guild Wars 2.
Within the first few seconds of announcing the beta the signup site was down to massive demand, but up again within a few minutes.
Makes a nice change to have support software functioning properly at times like this, unlike certain recent launches…no names mentioned..*cough* Origin *cough*
The sign up requires you to download an executable which scans your PC and uploads the DXDiag information to NC Soft, then you enter your details and wait for an e-mail telling you whether you’re successful….

The award winning Valve title Portal hit the Android smartphone OS this week, except it also kinda didn’t.
What is described as a ‘proof of concept’ was discovered by YouTube user Android Police and aired in this short video, which as you can see shows that it’s entirely possible to have the basics of the game operating on a smartphone whilst not actually showing a lot:
Even though the playable level is immensely short, it nonetheless makes for an exciting conversion which would help occupy the working lives of people all over the world!…

Gears of Glory: Apex Ace is a top down indie racing game being developed by Domipheus Labs, which is the on-the-side indie studio presence of
Colin ‘Domipheus’ Riley, a Scottish game developer who develops indie games and mods in his spare time whilst working professionally for a leading Edinburgh technology company specialising in middleware for console games….

Indie titles are generally innovative and original in both name and gameplay. I have tested quite a few indie titles in my time; some were really good and others, like Dead Block, really bad. Pineapple Smash Crew (PSC) definitely falls into the former category.
PSC was created single handedly by a designer named Rich Edwards with only the help of chiptune artist, Syphus….

On Saturday several hundred thousand people, in more than 200 cities across the globe, went out in the freezing cold to protest against the ACTA bill which currently awaits ratification by the EU-Parliament.
Even after Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Czech Republic announced that they were not going to sign the bill, tens of thousands of people of all age groups joined massive rallies; the biggest of which was held in Munich where over 16000 people participated….
